Sparking Curiosity, Unleashing Potential

Welcome

On behalf of the children, staff and governors of Colwall CofE Primary School and Nursery, I warmly welcome you to our school website. I hope that you will find the information shared on here both informative and inspiring, supporting our School Vision and ‘Sparking Curiosity, Unleashing Potential’. We believe that all children should enjoy their years at Primary School whilst also learning the foundations which will set them up to be successful in their future endeavours. We take pride in inspiring learners, igniting their imaginations and encouraging them to ask questions which deepen their understanding across the curriculum as when a child is truly engaged they will develop their thinking and in time, reach their full potential. In addition to our Primary School classes, we also have a school Nursery class which caters for all children from the age of 2 years. The rich and diverse opportunities which are provided to our Nursery children are designed to engage them in a wide range of skills whilst also beginning their early learning journey through a play- based approach. This allows the children to enjoy playing with each other in carefully designed and freely chosen activities alongside being offered the early learning which will begin to form their strong foundations in the early years curriculum and beyond.

If you would like to find out more about our school, please do get in contact with us. We are so proud of what we achieve for the children who share each day with us in school, and would love to show you around.

With best wishes,
Mrs Gina Harrison
Headteacher

Vision and Values

At Colwall CofE Primary School and Nursery, we have a clear set of aims for the children and staff who work with us. Our Mission Statement is:

Growing and inspiring a community of life-long learners, who will care for each other, who will challenge themselves every day and who will achieve more than they thought possible.

The ultimate aim for our school is that it will not only be a place of great learning, but a place of great happiness where each child is understood, encouraged and motivated to develop lifelong learning skills in preparation for the future. As a school, we place a strong emphasis on engaging learners and inspiring them to experience more, and therefore achieve more. This forms the heart of our school purpose, and is shown through our motto.

We believe that all children have a light inside of them, one which if nourished and ignited, will shine brightly for all to see. This forms the basis of our Vision Statement, where we encourage all learners to ‘Let your Light Shine’: Matthew 5:16.

We encourage this vision by:

  • Opening children’s eyes to a brighter future, fostering curiosity and showing them what they can achieve through creativity, drive and excellence.
  • Working together to nurture and inspire, giving the children the confidence and ambition to meet future challenges.

School Values

Our School Values are also linked to our Vision, encouraging everyone to SHINE.

Show respect,
Be Honest,
Include everyone,
Never give up,
Strive for Excellence

As a Church of England school we also have three overarching Christian Values which encapsulate the ethos of our school. These are:

Faith  Hope  Love

At Colwall, we have a clear set of aims which form the foundation of our work.

  • To provide support and encouragement in an environment where children feel safe and thrive.
  • To provide a broad, balanced, high quality curriculum to every child, in an inspiring environment that they can enjoy.
  • To prepare every child for the future to enable them to become responsible and caring members of society.
  • To enable all pupils to achieve their full potential through high quality, effective teaching.
